So then i did the Nahoon mile this weekend, which all sounds fine... cept for the conditions.
First of all it was raining, just like it had been for a day or two before that, so the river was flowing fairly quickly in the direction of the sea.
Then it was frikken cold and im not talking just a mild chill - this was full on Lion Water (when its so cold its just head and mane *g*)
Next problem was that i was damn unfit and had not eaten or drank anything on the day.
So anyways, we go down to register and that takes an hour longer to do than expected so my loving fiance had to go pick up my speedo and bring that to me, yes i wore a speedo get over it.
The rest is kind of a blur after having to stand in front of the crowds with the three musketeers in their speedos.
The actual race was damn hard cos it was against a raging current up until the turn around point and then the rising tide in the opposite direction, i mean REALLY!!!
At one point i stopped to see where the boys were and noticed i was drifting backwards so had to carry on swimming.
the results were far from what i was wanting but they were still decent given circumstances. so here are the results : i came in 66th my mates i raced with came in 69th and 74th.
I did get a free swim cap and a free tshirt for coming in the lower times.
So then i wanted to see what the whole story was with the speed etc of the swim, so last night i went to the Virgin active pools and hit a quick swim to see, now the race was 1.6km and i finished that in a time of 37.29 last night i swam a k in 17mins so that at least made me realise where i normally am. I would have done the full 1.6 but left my goggles at home in an attempt to burn my eyeballs right from their sockets with elevated chlorine levels :/
So thats my story, doing some serious gym and getting closer to the wedding....
